How to Make Rava Idli

Ingredients for rava idli
- 1.5 tsp oil
- 0.5 tsp mustard
- 0.25 tsp jeera
- 0.5 tsp chana dal
- pinch hing
- few curry leaves
- 0.5-chilli
- 0.5-inch ginger
- 1 tbsp carrot
- 0.5 cup rava / suji / semolina
- 0.38 cup dahi / curd / yogurt
- 1 tbsp coriander
- 0.25 tsp salt
- 0.25 cup water
- 0.13 tsp baking soda / eno / fruit salt
- 2.5 cashew
Instructions
- Kadai heat 3 tsp oil and splutter 1 tsp mustard, ½ tsp jeera, 1 tsp chana dal, pinch hing and few curry leaves
- Add 1-chilli, 1-inch ginger and cook for a minute
- Add 2-tbsp carrot, ¼ tsp turmeric and cook for 1-2 minutes
- Keeping the flame on low add 1 cup rava and roast well
- Roast for 5 minutes
- Cool the rava completely
- Than add ¾ cup curd, 2 tbsp coriander and ½ tsp salt
- Mix well & make a thick batter
- Now add ½ cup water and mix well forming a smooth batter
- Rest for 15-20 minutes or until the rava sock water
- Mix well and add water if required, to form an idli batter consistency batter
- Grease the idli plate with oil
- Just before steaming add a pinch of baking soda (eno /fruit salt) and mix well
- Pour the batter immediately into the idli plate. (do not rest the batter)
- Steam the rava idli for 15-17 minutes on medium flame
- Serve instant rava idli with coconut chutney and sambar.
